The gender mainstreaming campaign is a project by Inter-Bau Foundation in conjunction with GIZ under the Pink Construction project to break the gender stereotype that the construction industry is solely for men. To achieve this, the organizations have set up training programs targeted at schools and communities to sensitize them on the various career options in the construction industry and to link trainees with mentors to guide their career choices.
The event held at Adesuwa Hotel Suites and Event Centre Idimu, Lagos State, which hosted four private schools and it lasted approximately two hours thirty minutes. The event achieved its aim of sensitizing girls that they can be successful in any field of the construction industry. After the training, a number of them indicated interest in painting, architecture and carpentry.
